About Nathan

Bicycles were a way of life as a kid growing up in Davis, CA. I kept myself busy purchasing beat-up bikes from the  "impound auctions" held by the university police, fixing them up, and selling them to incoming college students on Craigslist. I still remember a particular "Haro" brand BMX bike with a distinctive frame that I was able to buy for $25 because it had been spray-painted gray and nobody else at the auction recognized the distinctive frame shape under the dull gray paint. After riding that bike for a few months, I repainted the Haro and was able to sell it for over $200. As a 15-year-old this seemed too good to be true! At that time, I thought my calling was to someday open a bicycle shop....

I took about 20 years off flipping bicycles and instead took the conventional route, going to 7 years of engineering school. I lasted about 1 year in the office before trading in the khakis for boardshorts and playing professional beach volleyball on the beaches of Southern California for a few years. After successfully qualifying on the AVP, I then moved to Colorado and started up both indoor and beach youth volleyball clubs - bringing my passion for coaching and volleyball to the state with which I fell in love during my time in grad school at CU Boulder. 

During my time playing on tour and running the youth clubs, I set my mind on finding a way to replace the income & retirement plan that I walked away from as an engineer with passive income, and an exit plan for retirement. Fascinated by the wealth-building potential of real estate investments, the COVID pandemic was exactly the push I needed to take the plunge headfirst into real estate investing!

Successfully completing a B-R-R-R-R project (buy, rehab, rent, refinance, repeat!) was a pivotal experience that motivated me to obtain my real estate license and begin achieving my passive income and retirement goals. Along the way, I found myself alive with a new passion for learning - speaking to anyone that would listen about the benefits of purchasing real estate.
